Villa Sandi at OperaWine 2021.

Villa Sandi will be among the wineries present at this year’s Opera Wine, the premier gathering of Italy’s top estates, held annually in Verona and organized by Vinitaly International and Wine Spectator magazine.

This year’s Grand Tasting, held after the challenging year when all events were cancelled, will  be an event that marks the return to normalcy and to in-person meetings. The top names in Italian wine will be there to celebrate the 10th anniversary of OperaWine.

Wine Spectator, the most trusted magazine in the world of wine, selects one iconic wine from each winery. Villa Sandi has been selected with its Cartizze “La Rivetta”.

Harmoniously situated in the picturesque landscape of Prosecco country, Villa Sandi represents a connection with the history and traditions of this magical place. It’s an area where fine wine grapes have been grown and where fresh, aromatic sparkling wines have been made for centuries.

It’s a tradition and a story that the Moretti Polegato family has belonged to for generations. The success story of Prosecco started in the historical and traditional area of the hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano. It was here that a magical synergy between vines, land, and humankind led to these hills being proclaimed a Unesco Heritage site, a result of the interaction between humankind and the environment thanks to work in perfect harmony with nature.

The qualitative peak lies on the hill known as Cartizze, a micro area of 107 hectares in Valdobbiadene, divided among 140 owners: Vineyards that are like gardens, small and precious properties that have been passed down from parents to their children.

The Cartizze “La Rivetta” is a brut, produced with Glera grown on the Cartizze hill. It preserves all of the unique characteristics of the grape. It has extraordinary balance between the smooth creaminess and marked freshness.

These characteristics have earned the Cartizze “La Rivetta” accolades like the Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri and its selection as a Grande Cru of Italy. And it was recently crowned the best Prosecco according to the scores awarded by the main Italian wine guides in 2021.

We invite our readers and friends to visit us this year at Opera Wine as we celebrate this much coveted accolade!
